The featured song this week is the heart wrenching Don't Cry Daddy. Elvis would record the vocals for this song on January 21, 1969 and would be released as a single. He would also record an alternative version in his second season in Vegas in 1970 that seamlessly went into the iconic song In The Ghetto. A third recorded version would be a duet in 1997 with Lisa Marie as a dedication for the 20th anniversary of the King's passing. Enjoy.
Happy Father's Day
I want to extend a Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads out there that love and cherish their children. To those who have these awesome dads I hope you all give them a lot of love this coming Sunday.
Elvis was very close to his immediate family. The Presleys were very close knit and though Elvis is more popularly known as a Momma's Boy he also had a very close relationship with his father Vernon to whom he called endearingly Daddy.
As a teen Elvis and his father worked on the family car together and enjoyed a great many tears and laughs together as any man would have with their child. Though Vernon would experience a parent's absolute worst nightmare when Elvis passed, he had a lot of wonderful memories with his son, so cherish the time you have with your families and love them with your whole heart.
Feedback
To all new members and old, I really am getting a bit strained, I really want to hear some legitimate feedback. I know some of you that have joined are really dedicated Elvis fans and all I want to know is there any interest in the contest idea for Elvis Week this year at all?
Please I am beggin' you guys, it won't hurt my feelings if you are or if you are not! I just want to know if someone out there has any opinion at all? I would greatly be appreciative of a comment below with just that your opinion and if I should put the work into organizing the whole thing.
Thank You.
